Michael Mithoefer, M.D is the senior medical director for medical affairs at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He has nearly 30 years of experience treating trauma patients and has been board-certified in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Internal Medicine. In his time at MAPS, Dr. Mithoefer and his wife have conducted two of the six MAPS-sponsored Phase 2 clinical trials testing MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. He has also piloted a study treating couples with MDMA-assisted psychotherapy combined with Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy.
