It allows the reader to see that they are not the only person to live in such circumstances, to understand that the behavior they have been subjected to has not been “earned” by some failure or another on their part, but rather is an attempt at deflection by the person abusing them. They are worthy of a better life, a happier life, and this book will guide them through the steps that will help to enable them to obtain their freedom from a life of fear and shame while reminding them that no one has the right to treat them as anything less than an equal.
