“She’s gone,” I heard someone say. I woke up on the couch in Room 12 of the Hospice House and saw a nurse and her aid leaning over my wife. I jumped to her side and saw her last breath leave like a sigh. “She’s so beautiful,” the nurse said, and they left the room. Leaning over, I kissed her lips for the last time. She was beautiful, and looked so young.
