Description

Victims of abuse can walk away from their dysfunctional family members and others if they choose to remain unrepentant and continue to act in evil ways. (Mark 6:11) Letting go of toxic people with honor is a choice victims of abuse can make. (Matthew 18:15-17) A dysfunctional family is one where family members are broken down emotionally, psychologically and spiritually due to parents not making God their standard for raising godly children. The Bible and the book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom that instructs us how to conduct ourselves in our everyday lives. In order to root out and destroy our own tendencies toward narcissism (insolent pride and selfishness), we must renew our minds through God’s living word which speaks Rhema (utterance) to us. By changing our thoughts, we change our words and actions thereby enabling us to “Overcoming a Life of Narcissism” and walking in a life of victory. As sinners, we all come from dysfunctional families and repeat the ungodly dysfunctional behaviors learned. We can choose to unlearn them by partaking daily and in private, Bible study, meditating on the Word and fervent prayer. (Psalm 34:18) Ask the Lord and those closest to you to help you identify these “childish” and unhealthy patterns so that you may face and work on them in order to mature spiritually, emotionally and otherwise. Never be too ashamed to want to grow-I was not and am happier now than ever before. (1 Corinthians 13:11) …and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)” Our entire journey here on earth hinges upon this passage. The more time you spend in His presence, the more you begin to transform the way you talk and act through the renewing of your mind as you fill up on God’s word and empty of “self” becoming more Christ-like. The transformation from sinner to saint is a remarkable journey and not to be missed. It is a lifestyle with God as the head of your household, doing His will and not your own. Deborah spent over a decade researching narcissism and found the Bible to be a great comfort in her darkest hours. “Love others as much as you love yourself “- (Mark 12:31) … Narcissists constantly break this rule. It is God’s truth that set her free and helped her to “Overcoming a Life of Narcissism” God desires a covenant relationship with each one of us that we may live a victorious life of faith. In Christ, you are a child of the King. As His children, we are to seek God with our entire mind, body, and soul. Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. (Proverbs 13:13, 20) Your past does not determine your future, God does. When you know who you are in Christ, you begin to walk in the victory of Christ. Jesus is my Healer, Mentor, and Guiding Light. He is the way and the truth that sets one free.
