In Part One of the book, we meet Sage, the abused and isolated wife of a police captain, and her new friend Louie, who she meets at a women’s gym. As Sage’s world expands, her husband Jared escalates the abuse, to rein her back in. The reader follows the action as a mysterious women’s network helps Sage escape, at first unsuccessfully, then successfully, when her husband disappears. In Part Two, Tacoma Police Detective Tanner teams with Brittania Harrison, a female Auburn detective, to try and find Jared, and discover what the reader already knows – what happened to him? They travel extensively, getting to know each other, and chasing dead ends, until a psychic opens the door to tracking Jared down. What is the mysterious women’s network, and how far will it go when the need is desperate? What’s going on with Sage and Louie? And with Tanner and Harrison? The author was a women’s counselor for many years, and these interwoven stories, her reaction to a real murder/suicide in Tacoma, WA, make for a fast-moving adventure.
