Description

The Gospel of Thomas is a unique gospel completely unlike those found in the New Testament. In it Jesus tells us we are all Sons of God, like unto Him. He makes no distinction between his status as God’s son and those of others. This gospel appears to contain the original teachings of Jesus before they were banned by the faction of the church that believed Jesus to be the only Son of God. This faction of the church had the backing of the Roman emperor so the church was able to pull it off. They then proceeded to mercilessly persecute the many members of other groups who believed the original teachings of Jesus. However, there are still hints of his original teachings left in the New Testament. Read what he said to church leaders right before his crucifixion. You can find them in the Gospel of Mark and John. [Mk.14:61] And the Highest of all church leaders asked Jesus, “Do you claim to be the Christ, the Son of the Living God?” And he said to them, “Yes! What you say of me is true of all men.” [Mk.14:63] And the Highest of all church leaders said, What further need do we have for witnesses? [Mk.14:64] You have heard him blasphemy. [Jn:10:34] And Jesus responded, It is written in Psalms 82:6 “That we are gods,” [Jn.10:36] Why then do you say I blasphemy because I say of myself what your own scriptures say of all of you. The Gospel of Thomas was found in 1945 totally intact in Upper Nile, Egypt. It lay hidden in the sand under the corner of a great boulder for two millenniums. The author has arranged the verses in an orderly progression making them easier to read and understand.
