The Circle of Safety: Giving children a safe place to share their secrets introduces a therapeutic intervention which facilitates a child’s ability to disclose difficult emotional circumstances or abuse. The Circle of Safety can be facilitated by clinicians and utilized by caregivers and other supportive adults involved in care for children, allowing for a non-punitive approach to a key phase in the child’s healing process. This book addresses the need for a further trauma-informed tool set for professionals and caregivers who encounter children facing difficult emotional circumstances and displaying symptoms which may be consistent with an experience of trauma. The Circle of Safety becomes an approachable haven to disclose and begin to receive necessary support and intervention.
