In a desperate hope that I could somehow connect with my 21-year-old son, Kurt, after he lost his life to depression and suicide, I began writing him letters. I had so much that I needed to say, an overwhelming amount of love left to give, and a frantic need for answers. How could my kind & beautiful son be gone without a chance for me to speak to him ever again? How could I possibly live my life without him here? How in the world could this have happened and shouldn’t I have been able to save my own son? My letters, along with my art, are expressions of my pain, my grief & my never-ending love for Kurt. This book is the beginning of my journey and an attempt to navigate a new and unwanted life without my son.
