Description

In the recent days, it has been observed that there is a growing trend of suicides, firing shots at their compatriots/seniors on trivial issues like denial of permission to go on leave, work overload or job dissatisfaction etc. These incidents are not confined to local police only but also common to paramilitary forces that are engaged in internal security duties. Although these unfortunate episodes in security forces may be ascribed to inadequate expansion of manpower, poor management, lack of proper training and insufficient stress management technique etc., noteworthy is the fact that the occurrence of such incidents have become most common these days indicating a growing grip of occupational stress over the personnel of such forces. The current study is based on 400 samples collected exclusively from security forces deployed for internal security duties and attempt to compare the effect of occupational stress & personality dimensions over officers vis-a-vis subordinates of such forces. An effort has also been made to find out how the occupational stress, as a dependant variable, is influenced by the personality dimensions.
