The old saying goes: “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Unfortunately, in today’s messy world, the thing you stand for may be the very thing you have fallen for. Sometimes you need a owner’s manual, sometimes a compass, sometimes you need a few suggestions that worked for somebody else. The world no longer functions by the conventions and unwritten rules with which many of us grew up. Although the old guidelines may still work, we may have to see them in new ways.
