Description

What do infants understand about the physical world? What influence do parents have in their child’s development of a conscience? Are popular teens more at-risk for substance use problems? What are the characteristics of a successful marriage? Growing Up, Growing Older: Perspectives on Lifespan Development answers these questions and more.

The book brings together classic and cutting-edge research on human development from the prenatal period to late adulthood. Focusing on the broad themes of perceptual, cognitive, social, and emotional development, this volume includes essential readings from leaders in the fields of attachment, language development, peer relations, gender, moral development, marriage, and others. Growing Up, Growing Older is designed to introduce students of lifespan development to research and theory that shape the way we understand the developing person.
